So if you haven't seen, Steve and I have posted our first vlog!!!
It's always so highly requested I figured we might as well give it a go. Normally I shy away from vlogging not only because I am pretty private person but because I honestly feel like I am just not good at it. I feel like my life isn't all that interesting most days and when we do have things going on I'm definitely more of a "let's experience" vs. a "let's document" type of person.
I tried none the less and this is the result. I actually am pretty happy with the way it turned out and I've been getting so much positive feedback I would for sure consider making these Vlogs a reoccurring thing on my channel. Steve and I talked about maybe once a week we would choose a day and vlog it. We are not interested in daily vlogging or anything like that, for a multitude of reasons, but once a week may be manageable.
In the spirit of wanting to do more fashion posts on my blog I bring you a casual look from last night. Steve and I quickly got ready to grab some sushi for dinner and ended up catching a movie while we were out.
Nothing fancy just some cut off shorts and comfy flats.
I am loving this ADORABLE French Bulldog Tank that I bought from H&M a couple days ago - I can't get over it!
Left my hair natural per usual, no eyeshadow - just relaxed and casual.
(the little pink bag is from the Sanrio store we stopped at. ^_^ grabbed a few goodies)

Hope this was helpful to you all and that you find some new colors to play with (or re-discover some oldies you have lying around in your makeup collection ^_^) At some point I may do a video showing what all of these look like on - let me know if that is something that may interest you all :) I didn't swatch these because I find most blushes are not true to swatch. For example, Launch Away! shows up almost as nothing - a very light, white pink but on my cheeks it's a much more dolly, baby, sweet pink.
(lol I did not wear this to the gym btw haha I know it looks like that but I went with Steve to a local tricking place to meet up with people before heading to dinner. The upstairs has some random work out stuff so that's why you can see it in the background - I always get questions from you guys when I take photos here so I thought I'd explain.)
I know I haven't had many fashion posts lately and I apologize!
#1. I got in trouble for taking outfit photos outside lol.
#2. I've been lazy and it's too dang hot to dress up.
So...with that being said here you have one of my current go to looks. Pretty much a no brainer - cut off shorts and a tank. O_o Sometimes I'll get wild and throw on a utility vest or jacket on top ; P
I HAVE to talk about these shorts though - One Teaspoon - BEST brand for shorts I've ever owned. I've been wearing them alllllllll summer and I can't get enough. I think I have purchased about 8 pairs so far. I love them! They feel like they are custom made and distressed. Pricy but a lot of times you can get a good deal on them through Karmaloop/MissKL and overall they're classics that are only going to get better with wear.

The ones I am wearing here are called the Domino Trashwhores (AWFUL name -__-) which were originally $90 - I paid $30 PLUS got 4% Cash Back through Ebates = DEAL!
Now this style is obviously VERY short (as most of their shorts seem to be) but when it gets to be a certain degree outside you end up not caring lol. Plus if you get a longer utility vest/jacket or cardigan you are all set. I see a lot of people tie a shirt around with some of the higher waist shorts too. (I can't wear high waisted shorts because I have a short torso and I feel like it's not really comfortable with a belly button piercing either.) All of the styles also are about an inch or two longer in the back so they definitely cover your butt (much better than the UNIF shorts I've tried) otherwise I would NOT be wearing these shorts lol.
If you were looking to invest in pair I would recommend the Bandits or the Hunger Bandits - they are a bit longer and have a fold over hem vs. all that fraying just hanging there. (Which I know many of you will prefer.)
In order of preference the styles I own are as follows -
- Trashwhores(These are just TOO short in my opinion - probably hence the name lol - but since I have them and got a good deal I do still wear them.)
These have just been a summer staple for me and I don't hear very many people talk about them so I thought I'd share. Personally I have a VERY difficult time finding shorts, it seems like they all look terrible on me or feel uncomfortable. I like things that are not too tight on the waist and my legs are obviously not stick thin, I don't want something that's going to be skin tight. I feel like every brand makes shorts that are made for people with tiny thighs :'(
I always buy my shorts one size bigger than my jeans for comfort so with most of these I purchased a size 27, (I do have one in a 26 though that I purchased most recently and I take a size 26 in all jeans currently) that gives me a lot of space in the waist but not enough for them to be pulled down over my hips which is exactly how I like my shorts to fit : ) I DO wish they would incorporate some slightly longer styles for a bit more modesty but what can ya do.
Now I don't always wear shorts with heels - normally I'll do flip flops or something like that but if I am going out I'll usually try to dress it up a tad and wear a heel paired with something longer over to cover the sides and at least part of the back of the shorts. (I had a green utility vest with me this day but it was so hot during the day especially inside this building I couldn't wear it until later when it cooled down.) Wearing heels with shorts can make your legs look a lot nicer especially if shorts are not your most flattering look - these Soirée heels from Jeffrey Campbell are super comfortable and easy to walk in. (Also from Karmaloop/MissKL)
Lastly, I know you are all drooling over this bag and I've been getting a lot of questions on it. This is the Diamond CC Camera Bag from Chanel's Fall 2013 line. They have two sizes and this is the smaller of the two (they also have a flap style version but I don't love it). I feel like this was reasonably priced from the brand considering it is a full leather bag done is super soft lambskin and features the classic burgundy leather interior. The chain strap also has a little leather panel on top for comfort. (You'll see this in a lot of Chanel's fall line up. I honestly wasn't a fan of that look at first but it's growing on me.) I actually filmed this like a week ago but my computer has been giving me an attitude. I'm about to go drop it off at the Apple store today for repair. Hopefully it won't be there too long but I wanted to make sure I was able to post this up just in case :)

So you may have seen this posted on my Facebook/Twitter today but I wanted to also do a quick blog post so I could speak a little more intimately with you all as well as express my excitement and support for my friend and fellow Korean Adoptee, Dan Matthews (DANakaDAN of afterschoolspecial).
So a few weeks ago while in Seoul, South Korea for the first time since I was born, I received an email from my friend Dan. He had gotten some pretty HUGE news and wanted to share it with me. In the email he attached a letter as well as some photographs, what was inside gave me an entirely new perspective on being an adoptee.
He had done a birth search and they had actually found his biological family! His parents were married and still are. He has a biological sister and TWIN BROTHER.
....I'll just give you a moment to let that sink in.
Now I personally don't really talk about my adoption very much, mostly because I feel like a lot of people wouldn't understand and I have found the words and actions of those types of people to be...just plain mean. After all it's not something that I sit and think about all the time, I've always been very "it is what it is" about it, especially as a child/teenager.
Of course if anyone (genuinely) asks me I have no problem talking about it. I just never like that to be the main thing people focus on. Growing up in a small country town in Connecticut with little to no Asian people for most of my life really allowed the whole 'adoption' topic to get pushed to the back burner in most conversations. It was so rare to see an Asian person (not working at the Casino) that adopted or not adopted didn't really seem to matter. I think in all my years in school, from Kindergarden to College I was pretty much always 1 of 2 Asian kids in the entire school. (At one point there were 3 - My little brother, myself and another little girl - all of us adopted.)
When I started flying out to Los Angeles in 2009 the fact that I was adopted seemed to come up in EVERY conversation that included Asian people -___- there was a lot of "ohh she's Korean...but she's adopted" - a.k.a. why I don't speak Korean, have any Korean tendencies (other than my temper ^_^), and whatever else people like to categorize Korean people to be like.
To be fair there are a TON of Asian people out here, and just people in general. So many different cultures and ethnicities so I guess that's an important or interesting topic. It seems to be the first question people generally ask me out here, especially if they are also Asian. It's cool to be around so many other Asian people I suppose but it's also kind isolating for me. Number one, I'm not use to it and number two, everyone seems to put so much emphasis on the fact that I'm adopted. It's like great I'm Korean, I'm now exposed to other Koreans...yet I still don't really fit in. It's something that I'm working on and something I'm sure a lot of adoptees experience.
WE'RE ALL JUST PEOPLE! Why can't it ever be that! lol.
Anyway, a couple years ago I met Dan through mutual friends and he is pretty into the whole adoptee thing, hearing other people's stories, connecting, etc. which was different for me because I'm really not. I think most of my life I just wanted to have the same type of family as everyone else. My parents are my parents. I don't want to talk about my biological family because for me that's not a family that I know. (And I know that probably sounds kind of harsh but please understand none of this is meant to be offensive or anything like that. Everyone processes things differently and sometimes you can't control how you feel. It's an ongoing battle for me and I think it probably always will be.) Talking with Dan and seeing adoption through his eyes and spirit have really given me new perspective on the topic. It has become kind of a new chapter emotionally for me, one that I am no longer scared or feel awkward to pursue.
I definitely want to thank him for that, for his persistence in talking to me about adoption and sharing milestones in his journey, despite me initially shying away from the topic. I can not express what I felt for him when I received his email about finding his birth family. So many emotions I almost can't explain how you could have so many at one time. Happiness, excitement, hope, curiosity, jealousy, and yes, I cried.
For me his outcome is something that I never thought possible, something that I would be too afraid to move forward with (for many reasons) on my own, he just did it. It happened, and this is just the beginning.
He's boarding a flight right now to Korea, he's going to perform, meet his birth family and...they're documenting the whole thing.
Now this is where you and I come in : )
In order to make this whole thing possible they have started a KickStarter.

To everyone else, Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post. Definitely a little more personal that I normally like to get online but I felt like now was the time haha. It's probably something I wouldn't do a video on but if anyone out there is interested in hearing more about my...adopted-ness. LOL. - my adoption story/life, please let me know. It may be something I would be willing to blog about since I know that I do have some fellow Korean adoptees out there and it may be a helpful support to those looking for it. My thoughts on adoption/my adoption are really on their way to coming full circle I feel. I am in the best place I have ever been with it currently so I think now I actually would be able to, in a helpful/more insightful way.
Who knows maybe next time I will be posting about an email I get with some big news to share : )
