[Beauty] Great Value: Fergie for Wet n Wild - Desert Festival Eyeshadow Palette (Review, Swatches + Eye Look)

Hiç yorum yok

CENTERSTAGE COLLECTION Available at Walgreens

Retail $4.99

Now this is a post I wasn't planning on doing BUT after trying this out today I just HAD to!

Truth be told I'm not typically a fan of Wet n' Wild eyeshadow palettes (their blushes and single shadows are awesome though!) so I was a little on the fence about trying this one but I really wanted to get a few things from the Fergie collaboration.

I picked this up at Walgreens when I was in Vegas last month and am just getting around to trying it now >_< As far as I know this collection is available only at Walgreens stores (despite the brand being available at a variety of drugstores).

There are 4 eye palettes in this collection but despite the price I only picked up one. I decided to go with what I thought I would get the most use out of as a whole and I am happy to say I am very pleased with my choice.

Desert Festival-
To me this is the most neutral and wearable - I would say suitable for everyday.

It contains:

 - a skintone taupe-y beige with a slight sheen
(for me this is way too dark as a highlight shade but looks great as a blending or all over lid color)

- a matte burnt orange
This was the color that made me want to buy this palette!
(great to add depth to the crease and to layer between other colors in the palette. although pigmented enough to be used boldly it can also be applied lightly in a subtle manner as well. a wonderful and inexpensive way to try a color like this. I promise anyone can make this shade work!)

- a matte dark brown
(this is the color I used to darken the outer section of my eye in the photos below)

- a shimmery dark peach
(truth be told I don't love the shimmery shades in this palette as much at the matte but these are still a nice addition. would be great as an all over lid color for a fresh spring/summer look.)

- a shimmery dark brown
(I used this for my lower lash line but this would also be suitable as a crease color or as an all over lid shade for a darker look. this color is extremely pigmented and was difficult to get off my finger after swatching.)

Of course you can create several different looks with these colors but for my first time trying it out I chose to go with a comfortable medium intensity look. (You could always go lighter or darker but since I was doing my makeup for regular life (vs. photos or video) I just went with the style I normally do.)

For me the shadows did last all day without creasing or fading - no primer used.
(for reference I never use primer and very rarely have creasing or fading but these preformed just as well as any of my MAC eyeshadows)

What truly impressed me the most was how effortlessly I was able to blend even the matte shades. I thought I might have a problem with the orange or the brown since they are pretty pigmented but I was pleasantly surprised that they did not require much attention.

(I'm not sure how the shimmery brown will blend since it is the darkest of all the colors - I only used it on my lower lash line since I prefer the matte shades for my crease.)

^ Using all shades except the shimmery peach.

I especially love the matte shadows in this palette! Very smooth application and easy to blend.

This photo was taken AFTER wearing the shadow all day - No primer.
(I never use eyeshadow primer.)

I would have taken a before photo to show you but I didn't know I was going to like these enough to want to do a post on (plus I was in a hurry).

Lashes are from Lash Royalty - Style Luxe 1 (Available HERE)

^ All swatches done on bare skin with no primer.

Overall I am impressed with this palette and would definitely recommend it.
At about a dollar per shade you really can't go wrong. These are much better quality in my opinion than the normal Wet n' Wild palettes. (I find the ColorIcon palettes to be very soft and break quite easily. Although they are pigmented I don't feel like they look high quality on my lids - something about the way the shimmer applies - not as smooth?)
I would say they are more comparable to a lot of my higher end shadows.

Pros
-Affordable at $4.99
-Easy to Wear
-Can be used for both day and night looks - Shades are versatile
-Different than your typical nude palette (incorporation of peach/orange)
-Good Pigmentation
-Easily Blended
-I am fond of the colors included
-Packaging seems more sturdy than the ColorIcon Palettes
-Shadows are not as soft/breakable as the ColorIcon Palettes
-Not chalky and not too powdery (a little with the beige shade but tolerable)
-Good quality -Particularly the burnt orange - that shade is very comparable in both performance and pigmentation to MAC eyeshadows.

Cons
-No highlight shade for fair/medium skin tones so if you will need a secondary product.
-Not easily accessible - Available only at Walgreens + Limited Edition?
-Packaging could be a little more secure (but at $4.99 I can't really complain)

This is one of the best eyeshadow palettes I've purchased from the drugstore in a LONG time so if you were contemplating trying it I would say go for it!

I picked up a few other products from this line as well, none of which I will be doing a blog post review on but they will be featured in my April Hits & Misses video at the end of this month on my YouTube Channel so SUBSCRIBE if you haven't : )

I hope you all have enjoyed this post.
Thank you for reading and for your continued support.
I will talk to you all very soon!
Love,
Holly

[Fashion] Black, White, Black, White. [Faux Leather Peplum Top]

Hiç yorum yok
photo: hollyannaeree

Top:
(Similar Here - Here - Here and more affordable HERE and HERE)

Skirt:
(Similar HERE and more affordable Here)

Shoes:
(Similar Here - Here - Here - Here and Here)

This is THE best fitting peplum top for my body shape! I love it!

Just purchased this from Zara last week and am OBSESSED.
(I added some stock photos to this post because due to the solid colors it's hard to show detail)

I have a short torso (due to scoliosis) and I'm not super skinny so peplum tops can be tricky for me. If these hit too low can make your hips look a lot wider than they are and if they hit too high it can bulk up your midsection too much.

My boyfriend also loves this top/outfit on me, he commented on it as soon as he saw it (as well as several times throughout the day) and that's always a good feeling : )

I'm also loving the black and white trend so choosing what I would on the bottom was a no brainer. These are some of my FAVORITE skirts ever (my boyfriend's favorite style/brand of skirt on me as well) - they can be dressed up or down and are extremely comfortable!

They're a little pricey but totally worth it - they wash and wear well not to mention go with pretty much anything! Every season they come out in TONS of colors, it's hard to resist! Plus they do go on sale - I have gotten a few for about $50-$60

Classic, long lasting and good quality - for sure a staple in my wardrobe.

(I use to just buy cheaper bandage skirts from Forever 21 and similar stores but I could only wear them once or twice before they shrunk, the waist band twisted or they got pill-y - so I bit the bullet and started to invest. It's been so worth it since I wear these for everything from a night out to business meetings (they do have different lengths - I have a few longer ones as well.))

Lastly these shoes again!

They are a total staple for me in the spring and summer.
Easy to walk in, interesting to look at and they go with so much!

For an outfit like this I really love the look of bold strappy sandals. I think it just balances everything out.

And the cherry on top - white polish on the toes. I AM LOVING this trend!
It instantly gives your toes/legs a tan and just looks so clean.

Here I am wearing Essie - 'Blanc' on my toes.

For my nails I have on OPI - 'My Boyfriend Scales Walls' - I prefer this on my hands because it's more of a grey/blue white vs. a stark white which I don't think looks very good on fingers. True white kind of gives a fake/white out look and if you wear inexpensive black clothing (F21/H&M) it stains them : ( That doesn't happen with this polish and from a distance it pretty much appears white so you get the look without any of the issues.)

-----------

Hope you guys enjoyed this post/outfit! It is one of my favorites so far! So sexy and feminine : ) (If I wear it again I'll try and snap some pics with my DSLR vs. my iPhone - I been in Vegas the past few days so this is all I was able to get.)

Thanks again for reading, following, commenting and supporting.
I truly appreciate it! My blog has become a new passion for me and I'm having a LOT of fun with it!

Keep checking back! I should have a new post soon : )

Love,
Holly

[Fashion] Big Cats + Black Fringe

Hiç yorum yok

Bag:
( Mini MAC also Available - Here)

Shoes:
(These and These would look good as well)

Black Fringe Skirt:
Forever 21 (Here)

Tiger Tank:
Brandy Melville (Here)
(Similar style HERE)

(I LOVEEE this bracelet!)

Just a quick snapshot of my Outfit the other day/night.

We basically just went to get Ramen with my brother and caught a movie later on.
(OZ the Great and Powerful)

It is been so nice and warm this week I have been busting out all my new warm weather tops and bottoms! Today I went for all black (I don't know - I've been into it lately).

The Details:

The top is a cut off tank from Brandy Melville (I'm wearing a simple black bandeau underneath) that I tied in the back to give me a little more shape. It's a pretty loose fitting top so I couldn't really just leave it as is for this outfit - Any shape would be lost with the relaxed fit and black on black.
I have been really into these cut tanks lately. I just wear a bandeau underneath and we are good to go. Comfortable as well as a little tough/vintage looking.
(The "I don't care I'll wear ripped, aged items (that I really bought brand new, mass produced and spent over $20 on even though I could make this at home for like $3 -___-") man I wish I was more crafty). The top is one size fits all for reference.

You all know I am definitely a cat lover so any way I can work them into my wardrobe I'm going to go for it! (Although it does seem like the bigger cat varieties are a little more socially acceptable lol. No weird looks with a tiger or cheetah but a sleeping house cat tee and you suddenly become "THAT girl" lol.)

Another new piece that I added to my wardrobe a couple weeks ago is this Fringe Skirt from Forever 21 - I love it! So fun and a great way to add texture and interest to your outfit without being overly flashy. I have been wearing this so often lately - typically with vintage looking tees/tanks - sometimes paired with a cropped denim vest. It's definitely a different style for me but I have been having a lot of fun playing around with these types of looks. (Wearing a size Medium for reference.)

The shoes you have seen last year if you are a follower of my YouTube videos. They were on super sale and I loved them so much I have two pairs! I like how bold they are - I love wearing black shoes if I am wearing a black skirt or shorts and usually if there is a thicker strap detail they look even better. These are also pretty low which is great for comfort. I can walk around in these all day without an issue. The look of a heel with the comfort of a small wedge.

For my bag I am wearing the Rebecca Minkoff 5 Zip Mini - Black with Gold Hardware - I have gotten sooo much use out of this bag! The 5 Zip Mini is my favorite from Rebecca Minkoff and it surprisingly holds everything I need! (I recently did a "What's In my Bag" Video featuring this purse so feel free to check it out if you are interested.)

Lastly one of my FAVORITE new purchases - this Lion Chain bracelet. O-M-G
I just think this is such a cool twist on a fashion favorite (chain bracelets) and it goes with pretty much everything I wear.
I LOVE IT.
It's a nice, heavy weight and looks kind of vintage to me. Surprisingly nice quality for the price. Great to pair or wear alone. (It is a little big on me but if you clip it to the actual chain links vs. the extender you should be fine. You can always take off a few links if you have some heavy duty pliers.)
OBSESSED.

---------

Thanks so much for reading! I hope you all enjoyed this post! I'm so happy to be doing fashion posts on here finally : ) Sorry for the iPhone photos today - I didn't have time to take my DSLR outside, etc.

(I'm also writing this in between working on a new video that will hopefully be up soon   : ) I know it's been a while!)

Talk to you hopefully tomorrow!

Love,
Holly
